About the event
Ali will be sharing the fundamentals of how to use the ‘incredibusy’ darning loom, handmade in the UK from salvaged materials, the design inspired by the original 1950s speed loom. This is a handcrafted tool designed to simplify the process of darning and repairing small snags in fabric.
There will also be an option to purchase your own incredibusy salvaged speed loom at the end of the day.
We suggest that you bring along with you, a sock, a jumper, or something with a small hole to repair and practice on.
You will come away from this relaxing Beginner workshop with the knowledge of basic loom repair stitches, and the chance to give your favourite garments a longer, well-loved life.
Your teacher: Ali Clifford has an ethical fashion marketing background, previously working with clients Safia Minney; Po-Zu shoes, Palava, and Lowie Founder Bronwyn Lowenthal.
Prior to this Ali ran the design studio at an ethical childrenswear brand and also for a leading UK department store.
Ali recently gave a TEDx talk on local actions for sustainability, has a degree in Graphic Design, and now mentors small businesses through her social media marketing consultancy incredibusy.com.
She enjoys sharing her love for repairing textiles through her @incredibusy socials, and in her spare time, holds visible mending workshops using the salvaged speed loom she has recently developed, made here in the UK
